We've Worked Nonstop, But Why Haven't We Asked You for Money?

We believe in you, but we want you to believe in us, too.

A lot of you have asked. Some of you have asked more than once. And honestly, that means more to us than you probably realize, because it means you're paying attention, and you believe something real is happening here.

So let's talk about it.

Five Borough Veterans hasn't raised funds yet because we wanted to earn it before we pursue it. That's it. We didn't think it was fair to ask based on what we say we can do. We’d rather show you.

Since October, we’ve held roundtables, published a voters’ guide, spoken up against budget cuts, rallied against government overreach, and pushed legislation to signature. All made possible through countless hours of work, opportunities made possible by our community partners, and a small amount of funding donated by our founders. We know you’re worth it, so we’re in this to win.

You’ve made us aware of your concerns about this being “just another veteran organization”. Big websites, polished decks, a lot of language about impact, and then not much else. We didn’t want to be that. We still don’t.

Here’s where we actually are: we’re at the point where doing more means needing more. Scaling what we do across all five boroughs, being there consistently, building something that outlasts any one of us, that takes real resources. So yes, funding conversations are coming. We’re not going to pretend otherwise.

But when we do ask, you’ll know exactly what it’s for. Because you’ve watched us work, and that’s not something we take lightly.

For now, we have a simpler ask: show up, speak out, spread the word, and let the city know that our community exists beyond the last Monday in May and November 11th.

Thank you for being in this with us.

In Service,

The Five Borough Veterans Team
