The Brooklyn Football Club Gave Our Community a Night Worth Celebrating.
Why Military Appreciation Night at Maimonides Park Was The Place To Be.
5BV Advocate & U.S Army Veteran, Gerard Placide, being recognized for his service and advocacy work.
Saturday at Maimonides Park was one of those nights that reminds you why this community matters.
The Brooklyn Football Club joined forces with us to host their Military Appreciation Night, and despite the sudden rainfall, the skies cleared up to greet our families for a night of fun.
Before the game, children were welcomed onto the field to practice their soccer skills while our community partners met with families to discuss the opportunities and services they provide across the five boroughs.
U.S Army Recruiters discuss currently opportunities available to current service-members.
Community providers from the VA Harbor Healthcare system & the Brooklyn Vet Center discuss available services.
As we prepared for kickoff, our own 5BV advocate & U.S Army Veteran, Gerard Placide, set the tone with a presentation of the National Anthem.
During halftime, a line up of members from our community were brought to the field to be recognized for their service and shown appreciation for how they’ve impacted our city after the uniform.
The honorees from NYC’s military-connected community.
The Brooklyn Football Club team put real intention into this event. With a blend of programming, recognition, and space for the military-connected community to be present, the team ensured our community was not just thanked from a distance. We’re grateful for their partnership and are already looking forward to building on it.
If you were there Saturday, thank you for coming out. If you weren’t, follow Brooklyn FC and keep an eye on their upcoming schedule. Events like this are worth your time.
If you’re a member of our community living in New York City who hasn’t connected with Five Borough Veterans yet or know someone that should, we’re not hard to find. Reach out anytime.
In Service,
